What is the District Caucus?

The District Caucus is similar to a County Convention. It includes all the counties / parts of counties from that Congressional District. The 8th Congressional District Caucus will therefore include delegates from Bay, Genesee, Midland, Saginaw and Tuscola Counties.

What is the business of the District Caucus?

The business of a District Caucus is always specified in the original Call to Convention sent by the counties. The Winter 2025 Caucus exists to elect the 2025-2027 District Committee Members.

 What is the District Committee?

The District Committee represents the Congressional District. Just as the County Party / County Committee focuses its efforts on the countywide races, the District Committee focuses its efforts on the US Congressional District race, which in the case of the 8th Congressional District, spans across the majority of Bay, Genesee, Midland and Saginaw Counties, plus one precinct of Tuscola County.

When the District Committee meets, they meet to represent the interests of the District, not the individual counties making up the District.

How many positions are on the District Committee?

Every District Committee in Michigan is comprised of twenty-five positions: 1 Chair, 1 Vice Chair, 1 Secretary, 1 Treasurer, 3 State Committeewomen, 3 State Committeemen, 15 District Committee Members.

The twenty-five in total make up the 8th Congressional District Committee.

What is the term of the offices, State Committee members, and District Committee members?

The term of office is 2 years. The current committee members serve the 2023-2025 term from the Winter 2023 Caucus. Those elected at the Winter Caucus on February 21 will have a term from 2025-2027.

Those elected at the Winter 2025 Caucus will have their term begin at the conclusion of the State Convention on February 22, 2025.
